Colorful works by artist Laurent Perbos, including the imitation of Aphrodite of Milos, were chosen to represent Olympism and celebrate sports and art at the French National Assembly, which will participate in the Cultural Olympiad.

Six sculptures, each representing an Olympic/Paralympic sport, will be exhibited in the outdoor exhibition "Beauty and Gesture" from April 2  until September 22, during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Each of these works is associated with a color of the rainbow, symbolizing equal rights and the fight against discrimination.

"French visual artist Laurent Perbos conceived the artistic idea, choosing the following sports for each sculpture: basketball, boxing, javelin throw, archery, surfing, and tennis. Inspired by Aphrodite of Milos, these female figures made of acrylic resin each hold an object representing their sport, an allegory that contrasts with the collective imagination that associates sports with men and reflects the evolution of the Games" in order to become more inclusive for all people both men and women.
